Mission / History

In 2011, the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children, Denver Preschool Program, Colorado Head Start Association, and Early Childhood Education Association of Colorado came together to sponsor a regional conference focused on the many challenges and facets of the early childhood field. By forgoing individual conferences and instead combining efforts to produce a single event, these organizations sought to enhance the coordination among early childhood initiatives and programs, increase availability of professional development and training, and more effectively advance the agenda for early care and education. This collaboration created a course of action to hear and learn from a broad range of thought leaders, practitioners, and experts representing the wide variety of fields that impact early care and education.

In 2016, the Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference became a partnership between the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children, Denver's Early Childhood Council, and the Early Childhood Council Leadership Alliance. The two-day agenda of workshops and presentations is designed to meet the professional development needs of early childhood practitioners, and at the same time to make available an environment that encourages community advocates to learn, share and network.

As we move into 2018, the conference will continue maintaining a strong commitment in providing an exceptional opportunity for the early childhood community to come together and benefit from the region's premier forum. Alongside this commitment, the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children will transition into a supportive role for the RMECC. They are continuing to encourage the organization's membership to attend and benefit from the Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference. Sponsors and presenters at RMECC 2018 can look forward to welcoming these professional who care for, educate and work on behalf of young children.
